Poem about Zainab (granddaughter of Muhammad SAW)

By-Muhammad H.Abbas

Oh Zainab, we have come to express our condolences,
Oh Zainab, your brother is a stranger (in Karbala),

Oh Zainab, Hussain is oppressed, so we are answering his call,
Oh Zainab, today the sunrise is ever clear, and what it means, I cannot comprehend,
Oh Zainab, we have realized this significance, but others have not,
Oh Zainab, others have approached with confusion, so what is the explanation?
Oh Zainab, alive is the source of what was once the shattered dichotomy of my feeble existence,
Oh Zainab, with you are the secrets of Zahra, of which we must understand,
Oh Zainab, show us the path of the Holy Household, for in that house you were raised,
Oh Zainab, similarly, raise our love for your inspiration,
Oh Zainab, teach us the way of patience, for you have suffered and endured,
Oh Zainab, your name means 'the ornament of her father,' truly you are the ornament of the believers,
Oh Zainab, your light shines with transcendent radiance,
Oh Zainab, my eyes have widened as the candle of your presence will never extinguish,
Oh the faithful of the world!  This woman shines over the lifeless bodies of this household in Karbala, illuminating the crimes of the guilty ones!
The flowers of RasulAllah which once rested in her presence have ascended to heavens along with their sweet fragrances.
What remains resembles the shattered remains of my heart!
Tears flow without cessation, yet my love for them will not allow these tears to end.
Oh people of injustice, why have you snatched away the stems from our roses?
Oh Most Compassionate, what was the crime of these children?
The light of the purified cannot be extinguished.  The callers of truth cannot be silenced.
Listen, listen oh people of faith to the souls of these martyrs of Karbala!  The softness in their voices is speaking!
They are singing His bountiful praises!  Freedom they pronounce!  Victory they declare!  Oh children, gather and witness the beauty of their hymns.
This is the revolution of light, the revolution of love.
The caller proclaims his message to the God-conscious.  The respondents declare their independence through their loyalty.
Oh Zainab, we will never forget your courage.
Your inspiration will lead us to the love of the Almighty.
Peace, peace be upon you, for a mother to us all you are!
