A study of almost 100 seniors showed that those with uric acid levels at the higher end of the normal range had lower scores on tests of mental processing speed, verbal memory and working memory.

High uric acid levels (5.8-7.6 mg/dL for men and 4.8-7.1 mg/dL for women) were associated with cognitive problems even after age, sex, weight, race, education, and other factors were taken into account.

Uric acid levels increase with age for largely unknown reasons. Higher uric acid levels have been linked with other risk factors for dementia, such as high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, and type 2 diabetes.

High uric acid levels have been a problem for some time. High uric acid levels were associated with elevating the risk of death due to heart disease.

This new study now suggests that uric acid levels in the high-normal range may also be a sign of dementia. In general, the same factor that causes you to have increased weight, cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure problems is the same one that causes your uric acid level to increase. That factor, of course, is increased insulin resistance.

The best way to control your uric acid levels is quite simple: drastically decrease foods that cause your pancreas to make insulin by reducing, with the plan of eliminating, your intake of grains and sugars as much as possible.  Exercising is also another powerful way to reduce your insulin level.

Other ways to reduce your dementia risks safely and naturally:

•         Challenge your mind.

•         Stay away from toxins like aluminium.

•         Eat a nutritionist diet.

•         Help yourself with aromatherapy / organic facial and massage, to remove the uric acid build-up.
