The subsequent loss of self-esteem triggers the syndrome that makes dyslexia worse. A common example of dyslexia is reading words with the letters in reverse order, as in fyl for fly. Any child that exhibits any significant dyslexia symptoms is now routinely screened out and given full dyslexia testing. If the child is found to be dyslexic, he or she is fully diagnosed and then given special training to overcome any problems that might have been identified in the dyslexia testing.Others were diagnosed and helped to successfully deal with their dyslexia. Still others seem to have individually worked out ways to overcome the problems. By whatever means, many overcame their difficulties, used their gifts, achieved great things and have led exemplary lives. There are thousands of examples of well-known dyslexic people who have achieved this and more.
But those of us who graduated from elementary school more than 15 years ago had no such luck.
Another person with dyslexia might recognize all the letters but just not be able to read them as a word or just not remember any words at all and would therefore need to read or spell them out from the beginning every time they came across them. So it can be seen that just from a few examples of just how broad and vague the definition of dyslexia is. To complicate things even more person who has dyslexia may not have any symptoms described above.
