Boost your immune system

There are a lot of things you can do to boost your immune system, but here are the top three:

1. Support your gut,  you may have heard that the immune system begins in the digestive tract. Well, THIS IS TRUE. There are bacteria in the intestines that break down food and protect your body from illness. When you take antibiotics, or eat too much sugar and processed foods, the GOOD BACTERIA in your intestines cannot do their job to PROTECT AND DEFEND your body. You may want to begin taking some probiotics (good bacteria) in the form of acidophilus, etc.

Total health begins in the gut

How You Can Use Your Body's Bacteria for Better Health

Many scientists have begun to argue that the trend of using antibacterial soap and other antibacterial products may actually cause diseases like eczema, irritable bowel syndrome and even diabetes. What's more, the solution may be to feed patients bacteria.

The human body is made up of an estimated 100 trillion bacterial cells from at least 500 species, not including viruses and fungi. These bacterias (probiotics) are referred to as "friendly" bacteria and are responsible for several important biological functions. Some of these functions include assisting with digestion, keeping other harmful bacteria at bay and stimulating the immune system.

Researchers are hopeful that probiotics hold the answer to the growing number of cases of antibiotic resistance and abuse. This has caused consumers to search for other natural alternatives to treating various health conditions.

Certain studies have proven the many health benefits of probiotics such as the prevention or control of:

  • Food and skin allergies in children
  • Bacterial vagniosis
  • Premature labor in pregnant women
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Recurrent ear and bladder infections
  • Chronic diarrhea

2. Keep warm: If your mother ever told you to dress warm, maybe she understood what DOCTORS HAVE BEEN TELLING US about how the cold can shock our bodies. When we're exposed to extreme temperatures, our immune systems are challenged. As the weather continues to slide into the wintry months, dress warm and protect your head, chest and neck.

3. Get some sleep: Sleep is the great restorer of energy. All beings do it. YOU SHOULD do it too. Turn off the television, read then fall asleep. Your immune system WILL LOVE YOU for it!

There are more things you can do, and certain foods you may eat, but if you begin with these top three, you're on your way to protecting the system that protects the rest of you!

What Our Bodies Need:

The immune system is one of the most important treasures of preventive healthcare. In a world of exposure to toxins, temperature extremes, bacteria and viruses and environmental assaults, a strong immune system has been shown to protect against diseases (including so-called “contagions”), enhance healing, ward off infection and common cold, quicken healing time, enhance white blood cell response, and contribute to a state of wellness. Further, medical researchers show that suppressed immunity impairs the natural healing process and contributes to a host of diseases either as a primary or secondary causation.

High Protein Meals Can Help the Overweight Burn Fat

Higher-protein meals may help overweight and obese people burn more fat.

A new study found that overweight men and women burned more post-meal fat when they ate a high-protein breakfast and lunch than when they had lower-protein meals. The added protein seemed to modify the fat-burning deficit seen in heavy individuals.

A number of studies have suggested that high-protein diets may help people shed weight more easily.

Some generally good sources of protein include:

  • Eggs (ideally raw and free-range, organic)
  • Grass-fed beef and bison
  • Free-range, organic chicken and ostrich
  • Raw dairy products (raw milk,  cheese, yogurt, kefir, etc)
  • Wild-caught, mercury-free fish (only eat this if you can confirm via lab-testing that it’s not polluted)

When choosing protein sources, it’s extremely important to find high-quality varieties.
